February 17, 2006, Newsletter Issue #4: Print Design: The Client is King

Tip of the Week

As it is with any freelance job, an in-depth understanding of your clients' needs is vital. Beyond the work order (what specifically is required of you for your freelance assignment), you need to have a deeper understanding of the business' image. This may not be evident when you meet with your client, so some creative intuition on your part may be needed.

For example, if your client deals in small pet grooming, you may wish to develop a look for that company that uses a diminutive font in the logo (but not so small that it gets lost in the print design, of course). Be creative!
